A package is considered suspicious if it contains one or more of the following:
- Excessive postage or no postage
- No return address
- Unexpected packages
- Excessive tape
- Improper spelling or fictious address
- Packages that are rigid, bulky, lopsided, or uneven
- Restrictive markings
- Powdery substance on outside
- Strange odors, stains, or noises
If you get a package that is suspicious:
- Do not touch, move, or open it.
- Move away from package. Isolate the package by evacuating the room and closing the door.
- If package is discovered while handling, avoid dropping, throwing, or any other abrupt shock movement. Gently set the package down.
- After evacuating, if you had direct skin contact with the package, wash hands with soap and rinse for 15 minutes or as directed by 9-1-1 dispatch.
- Call 911 from a safe distance and follow all instructions.
