Colorado State University strongly encourages all members of its community to report any known or suspected criminal activity or safety concerns occurring on CSU property or during CSU activities to the CSU Police Department (CSUPD). Below are the various options available for making reports.

Emergencies

Call or text 911 immediately.

All calls from CSU campuses to 911 are routed to CSU Police Department dispatchers. If you’re calling from a cell phone, let dispatch know if you’re on a CSU campus right away.

Non-emergencies

Contact CSUPD if you have knowledge of a criminal activity or public safety concern that is not an emergency: (970) 491-6425

Tell Someone

If you are concerned about a student or employee’s health or safety, the Tell Someone program serves as a university resource to connect CSU’s community with help, or address safety concerns. Immediate safety concerns should be reported to 911. Contact Tell Someone and learn more.

Access Mental Health Support

A small portion of student fees help pay for a wide range of student mental health support resources at CSU’s Health Network.

When to Call 911

You should call 911 when you’re facing a situation that requires immediate assistance from the police, fire, or medical services.

Here are some examples:
    • Medical emergencies: Someone is unconscious, having trouble breathing, experiencing severe chest pain, bleeding uncontrollably, or showing signs of a stroke or heart attack.
    • Fire: You see flames, smoke, or suspect a fire hazard that’s out of control.
    • Crime in progress: You witness or are a victim of a violent act, break-in, or any situation where you feel unsafe and need immediate help.
    • Accidents: A serious car crash, someone trapped or injured, or a life-threatening incident.
    • Other urgent dangers: Gas leaks, downed power lines, or anything that poses an immediate risk to life or property.
When in doubt it is best to call 911 rather than wait. For non-urgent matters, call CSUPD’s non-emergency line (970) 491-6425.
