CSU Police Department

As a university police agency, CSUPD is committed to working with all stakeholders to maintain a safe environment in support of the academic mission of the University and the health and wellness of the community. The department is comprised of law enforcement and civilian professionals who recognize the importance of a guardian-centric approach. In action, this philosophy prioritizes education over enforcement whenever reasonably possible. By collaborating with a variety of university resources, this holistic approach places emphasis on student retention and student success, without compromising safety.

CSUPD and campus safety partners work in conjunction to ensure campus compliance with the Clery Act.

SafeWalk

SafeWalk is provided by CSUPD with trained campus service officers providing safe escort from any university location to another university property or within a three-block radius.

Blue Envelope Program

The Blue Envelope Program helps improve communication between law enforcement and community members with conditions or disabilities that may affect how they interact. The envelope creates a clear, simple way to reduce stress and build safer, more positive interactions during traffic stops or other law enforcement encounters.

How It Works

  • Bright blue envelope: Holds important vehicle documents.

  • Signal for awareness: Lets officers know the driver may need extra patience, accommodations, or understanding.

  • No registry required: The program is free, voluntary, and self-implemented.

  • Visit CSUPD or the Student Disability Center to pick one up.

Environmental Health Services

EHS promotes environmental and occupational health and safety through education, consultation, monitoring and planning in response to the present and future needs of CSU. Programs and services include public and occupational health, safety and industrial hygiene, fire safety, emergency response and more.
